Thomas Spears Cathedral

Thomas Spears returns to 1821 Gallery and Studios for his second solo exhibition titled Cathedral. This body of work consists of paintings and collage/decollage works made from materials such as motor oil, salt, metal leafing, and spray paint. Spears multi-objective works inquire about the construction of generational relationships, landmarks, and boundary divisions. “SOME ALUM 2015” is 1821 Gallery & Studios largest group show since it’s opening in 2012. 16 alumni, artists who previously exhibited at 1821 Gallery & Studios, will be exhibiting their work June 18th thru August 1st. Thomas Spears

Thomas Spears first major exhibition titled “Things Hidden Since The Foundation” will open at 1821 Gallery & Studios January 23 and run thru March 14.  Spears’ work is a mixture of oil on wood and canvas as well as some mixed media work.  The work is about Prehistory. It is about the relationship between the sacred and the profane, predestination and free will, creation and destruction, consequence and choice, grace and futility.
