Allegorical Portraiture: New Paintings by Ronald Dzerigian

1821 Gallery & Studios is pleased to present Allegorical Portraiture, a new series of paintings by Fresno artist Ronald Dzerigian, March 19 – May 2, 2015. These paintings were made solely for this exhibition. This series of (primarily) oil paintings portray fictional characters that represent the elements of human experience within a loosely biographical framework. Family, loss, love, judgment, evaluation, intimacy, aloneness, history, etc. are all part of each individual’s personal map and these elements are generously woven throughout the installation. “Double Vision, Images in Fabric”, by Kerby C. Smith and Lura Schwarz Smith, is a presentation of their art quilts. Kerby Smith’s goal is to make you smile when you see one of his art quilts hanging on your wall. Kerby uses digital technology to both create his imagery and to stitch them using an ultramodern sewing computer. 1821 Gallery will be featuring two outstanding local artists for the month of July. Elaine Callahan, one of 1821 galleryʼs artists in residence, will be showing her most recent work. 1821 Gallery & Studios will be showcasing the work of artists Carolyn DeAnda and Michael T. Murphy during the month of May. DeAndaʼs exhibition titled “Retro Fresno-Remembering and Era” is an alternate media photography process utilizing digital composition and digital fine art pigment transfers to fine art papers, metals and other non-traditional substrates. 1821 Gallery & Studios will host the of work by Bill Bruce during the month of December. The exhibition entitled, Are You Going With Me? opens for ArtHop on December 6 from 5-8 pm and runs through December 21. Are You Going With Me? explores an interconnected relationship between art and music. Bruce, who has volunteered thousands of hours as an on air jazz DJ with public radio stations in Fresno, is an avid music collector.
