Robert Weibel
I have drawn all my life and have found nothing as challenging and rewarding as the human form. The human figure offers a greater challenge for learning and discovery than any other subject matter.
My printmaking knowledge and experience allow me to work automatically. I get lost in the process; as my muscles remember the moves, and my mind is freed up to explore the unknown. Sometimes, in the middle of inking a large plate, I immerse myself in the immediate, and there is no distinction between work and play, no distinction between then and now.
At its best, my creative activity engages and enriches my spirit. I feel that whatever I was meant to do, I hadn’t started until I became deeply involved with art. I intend to continue, a day at a time, the rest of my life.
I am grateful as new and different opportunities are presented that give me the juice and spark that I hope to share.
