Phil Bowers was accepted in his first professional art competition at the age of 16 and has been showing ever since. He won the Huston-Sunderland Memorial Scholarship at California State University, Fresno for the four years that he attended.
Bowers has been seen in group shows all over California and has had one person shows in Los Angeles and Fresno including four at The Fresno Art Museum.
At the age of 66 he continues to work in many media and styles with a fondness for non-figurative drawing.
In the current show at 1821 Gallery there are ink drawings, oil pastels, one oil painting, and three wood wall pieces. These works run the gamut from figurative to non-figurative but is primarily non-figurative.
