Eat Art, Art in Food

1821 Gallery will be exploring food as an art form with an exhibition entitled EAT ART – ART IN FOOD. The exhibition is comprised of two parts. The  EAT ART component on ArtHop, Thursday, December 5th, will be a celebration of the culinary arts, when some of Fresno’s finest chefs will garnish the Gallery with works of art that are totally edible.  Patrons are invited to view the art and have the opportunity to purchase one of 40 tickets at $40 each, with proceeds benefiting the Bulldog Pantry, a local food bank. Starting at 7:30 PM the Gallery will closed to the public and the lucky ticket holders will EAT- ART. Special guest chefs include: Liz Roberto-Rodriquez of Creme de la cake, Chrissy Steele-Dillard of Whole Foods Market, Kiel Thomas Schmidt of Tower Urban Family Farms, Sean Dunn of Peeve’s Public House & Local Market, Jeromie J. Garza of The Painted Table, Nolan Schmidt, Anthony Vassalle, Susan Gutierrez.

Tickets available at 1821 Gallery prior to the event. Gallery is open Wed. – Sat. 11AM – 5PM. (Closed Thursday Nov. 28 & 29 for Thanksgiving)

The second component of EAT ART – ART IN FOOD will be an exhibition of James Collier’s photography. Collier’s photography is an exploration of community, as experienced through the food and cultures therein. His Fresh series is an exploration of simplicity and form: local seasonal produce, photographed in natural light on a reclaimed farm table.  His tomato portraits are a color study, highlighting the diversity of an heirloom harvest along with the imperfections resulting from organic farming.  The James Collier photography exhibition will be on display December 4-21.Fresno-art-eat-art-gallery
