Friday is the closing reception for Leslie Batty, Everyday Stages, 5-8PM. Leslie will be donating the proceeds from “A Teal-Rose Dress for Valerie” to her dear friend Valerie Bender who continues to fight advanced stage breast cancer. Tickets to win this artwork are available for $25.
The reception will be dedicated to a dear friend and fellow art lover, Valerie Bender, who is succumbing to her battle against breast cancer. A longtime supporter of the arts, Valerie Bender has enriched the culture of our community through her dedication to quality journalism as vice president of custom publications and a longtime editor at the Fresno Bee, as the editor of Central Valley magazine, and most recently, as the publisher of the Merced Sun-Star. Fellow breast-cancer ‘survivor-sisters,’ Leslie and Valerie became friends in 2010 as part of a support group and have encouraged each other through many art-inspired experiences over the years since. Valerie’s favorite colors are teal and purple.
A Teal-Rose Dress for Valerie, an original oil painting by Leslie Batty valued at $3,000, will be raffled to benefit a favorite charity of Valerie Bender’s. At $25 per ticket, one ticket-holder will become the owner of the art piece. All contributors’ names will be included in a card expressing love and support for Valerie and her family along with the proceeds of the ticket sales to be awarded to a charity. The drawing to select the recipient will take place during the reception at 7 PM. Raffle tickets will be available for sale up to the time of the raffle drawing at 7PM
